Tai O Dragon Boat Water Parade

Tai O Dragon Boat Water Parade (Lantau Island, Outlying Islands) — During the annual Dragon Boat Festival, three fishermen’s associations in west Lantau Island’s tranquil fishing village of Tai O organize a religious ritual known as the Tai O Dragon Boat Water Parade (or the Tai O Deities Parade) which takes place on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. Inscribed on China’s third national list of intangible cultural heritage in 2011, the Tai O Dragon Boat Water Parade provides an opportunity to experience Hong Kong’s living culture up close, and to squeeze in a visit to an old stilt house community at the same time.
